Who we are
OpenForecast is a trading name of OpenForecast Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 11391477), registered office at 36 Garfield Avenue, Lancaster, LA1 5ET, United Kingdom. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. You can contact us at mail@openforecast.org.
What data we collect and why
Enquiries and contact forms. When you contact us via the website form or email, we collect your name, email address, and the content of your message. We use this to respond to you. Legal basis: legitimate interests (responding to enquiries) or steps taken at your request prior to entering a contract.
Meeting bookings. When you book a call through our scheduling system (Cal.com), we collect your name, email address, and your answers to the intake questions, and a Google Meet link is generated for the call. Legal basis: steps taken at your request prior to entering a contract.
Training and consultancy clients. When you purchase a training course or engage us for consultancy, we collect the information needed to deliver the service and manage the commercial relationship: name, email address, organisation, billing address, and, where applicable, a business tax identification number. Legal basis: performance of a contract; retention of invoicing records is a legal obligation under UK tax law.
Payments. Payments are processed by Stripe. We never receive or store your full card details; Stripe provides us with confirmation of payment and limited billing information. Stripe acts as an independent controller for payment processing — see Stripe’s privacy policy.
Website operation. Our web server records standard technical logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and troubleshooting. Our contact form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA v3, which analyses technical signals to distinguish humans from bots. Legal basis: legitimate interests (site security).
Who we share data with
We use a small number of service providers to run the business. They process personal data on our behalf or as independent controllers for their own services:
- Stripe — payment processing and invoicing
- Google — email and document infrastructure (Google Workspace), video calls (Google Meet), and spam protection (reCAPTCHA)
- Cal.com — meeting scheduling
- Zoom — delivery of live online training courses
- DigitalOcean — website hosting
We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for their marketing purposes.
International transfers
Some of the providers above process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where this happens, transfers are protected by safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the International Data Transfer Agreement / standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep data
Enquiry correspondence is kept for as long as needed to handle the enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards. Client and invoicing records are kept for six years after the end of the relevant financial year, as required by UK tax law. Training registration records are kept for the duration of the course and a reasonable period afterwards to handle certificates and follow-up questions.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to request access to your personal data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability where applicable. To exercise any of these rights, email mail@openforecast.org. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk), though we would appreciate the chance to address your concern first.
Cookies
This website uses only essential cookies required for it to function, and cookies set by Google reCAPTCHA to protect the contact form from abuse. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
